Philosophy

Carousel Day School was chartered by the New York State Department of Education and Board of Regents in 1956. At Carousel we believe that each child is endowed with his or her own individual capacities and characteristics. Knowing each student personally enables Carousel to provide the kind of education best suited for his or her distinct needs. Our objectives include a well-rounded program which encompasses the social and academic skills necessary for a lifetime of continuous learning and adaptation. We believe that certain criteria are essential to obtain these objectives one very important factor being, having FUN. The results have always proven to be positive: exercising their minds by allowing them to be creative, providing meaningful challenges, and enabling them to have accomplishments in sports and athletics. We believe that these tools will help to create independent and happy children. We feel confident that Carousel will provide a healthy, happy and productive experience for both you and your child. The owner/directors, Jane and Gene Formica have a combined total of over 60 years of experience in education.

School Staff

Carousel Day School is fully accredited by the New York State Department of Education and staffed by teachers who are NYS certified in Early Childhood
Education. Our Assistant
Teachers have had training
and experience in early
childhood education or
related fields.

Camp Staff

The health and safety of every camper is the primary concern of our staff. We search for the most qualified professional staff, college-age assistants and local sports and recreation specialists.

Each candidate, from group leader to support staff, is carefully screened in an interview by a Carousel director. Once selected,
all staff members undergo
an extensive pre-camp
orientation program, which
includes a detailed profile
of each camper in their
charge.
